Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Job Specialty: Surgical
Intensive Care Unit (SICU) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour
Nights Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2
years License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS,
ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Experience in stroke care - Ventilator
management skills - Ability to assist with intubation/extubation -
Competency in central venous line (CVL) management/placement -
Proficiency in foley catheter management - Experience with tube
feedings via nasogastric tube (NGT) or percutaneous endoscopic
gastrostomy (PEG) Job Description: - Work in a 10-bed SICU unit
caring for patients with conditions such as respiratory failure,
stroke, sepsis, renal failure, diabetes, and neuro cases including
craniotomies, spinal surgery, and traumatic brain injury (TBI). -
Care for surgical patients, including general surgery, total joint
replacements, urology, and neurological surgeries. - Maintain a
patient ratio of 1:2 for optimal care. - Support staff includes a
charge nurse who will take patient assignments, a resource nurse,
and a hospitalist available 24/7. - No phlebotomy responsibilities
are required on the unit; the IV/Vascular Access Team will handle
PICC/midline placements. - Utilize Meditech Expanse for electronic
medical records and Alaris pumps for IV management. Pyxis is used
for medication dispensing. - Be flexible with floating to different
units such as Stepdown, Stroke unit, and MedSurg based on needs and
staffing. - Participate in a mandatory weekend rotation, typically
working every other weekend, with alternating four-day and
three-day workweeks. - Orientation includes two days at the
hospital and one 12-hour shift on the assigned unit. - Maintain
professionalism, adhering to regulations such as no cell phone use
in patient care areas and appropriate professional attire. - Meet
holiday work expectations by working two out of the three major
holidays during the assignment. - Although the role does not
require on-call duties, anticipate blackout dates where specific
days off are not guaranteed. Enhance your clinical experience in a
